Chats, files and images
Pick a model, attach files and photos, share into One from other apps, view and save images, and open artifacts in the One app for Android.
Chatting in the app works the same as on the web. This page covers what's different on a phone. For the shared basics, see Models, Files and documents and Images.
Pick a model
Tap the model name at the top of the chat to open the model selector.
- Models comes first and lists One's models, starting with Auto. Your own agents are under My Agents.
- Type in Search models… to find one by name.
- Tap the star next to a model to pin it as a favorite. Favorites appear at the top of the list. To manage them, open Settings, go to the Account tab and tap Favorites.
To compare two models side by side, tap ⋮ at the top right of the chat and choose Compare Models. See Compare two models side by side.
For the Jury & Judge, tap Jury & Judge on the first screen of a new chat.
Attach files and photos
- Tap + next to the message box.
- Choose where the file comes from:
- Camera takes a photo now.
- Photos picks from your gallery.
- Files picks any file on your phone, such as a PDF, Word document or spreadsheet.
- Server reuses a file you've already uploaded to One, without uploading it again.
- Type your question and send it.
You can also paste an image you've copied with the paste button in the message box.
The app decides for you whether the model reads the file directly or reads the text inside it, depending on what the model can handle. To be asked each time instead, open Settings, go to the Chat tab, tap Attachments and choose Ask each time. When the app asks How should this be sent?, choose To the model or As text, then tap Attach.
If a password-protected PDF needs its password, the app asks for it and unlocks the PDF on your phone before uploading it. The password never leaves your phone, but the unlocked copy is uploaded, so only do this if you're happy to share what's in it.
Share into One from other apps
You can send text, photos and files to One from other apps:
- In the other app, tap Share.
- Choose One from the list of apps.
- One opens with what you shared in the message box. If you had a chat open, it goes into that chat. Otherwise it goes into a new chat.
- Add your question and send it.
View, save and share images
Tap an image in a chat to open it full screen. Pinch to zoom, and swipe to move between the images in the chat.
- Save to device saves the image to your phone's gallery. You'll see Image saved to gallery.
- Share image opens your phone's share menu, so you can send the image to another app.
To see every image, file and link in a chat in one place, tap ⋮ at the top right of the chat and choose Show all media. It has tabs for Media, Files, Links and Artifacts.
Files One makes for you
When One creates a file, such as a chart or a converted document, it appears in the chat as a card. Tap the card's menu (File actions) to:
- Open in… another app on your phone,
- Save to device, choosing where to save it, or
- Share it to another app.
Files made by running code are kept for 24 hours. After that, the card says the file has expired and it can no longer be downloaded.
Artifacts
Some answers include an artifact: something One built for you, such as a diagram, a chart or a small web page. It appears in the chat as a card.
- Tap the card to open the artifact. Tap View source to see the code behind it, and View preview to go back.
- From the artifact's menu, tap Share artifact to send it to another app.
- To keep an artifact on your home screen, tap Add to Home screen in its menu, give it a Name and an icon, and tap Add. Tapping it opens straight into the artifact. To remove these shortcuts, open Settings, go to the Data tab and tap Home-screen shortcuts.
You can change how artifacts open, and show diagrams and other types right in the chat instead of as a card. Open Settings, go to the Chat tab, and look under Artifacts. See Settings.
Things you can do with an answer
The buttons under each of One's answers include Copy message, Regenerate response, Read aloud and Check hallucinations. If there isn't room for all of them, the rest are under the More options button. For what they do, see Working with messages, Checking an answer and Voice.
