Files and documents
Attach documents and images to a chat so One can read, search, and cite them.
You can give One a file and ask about it: summarize a report, pull figures from a spreadsheet, compare two contracts, or explain a screenshot.
Attach a file
- Select the attach button (the paperclip) in the message box, or drag a file onto the message box.
- Choose how One should use the file:
- Upload to Provider sends the file to the model as it is. Use this for images, such as photos, screenshots, and diagrams.
- Upload as Text reads the whole file into the conversation. Use this for documents you want One to read in full, such as PDFs, Word documents, spreadsheets, code, and plain text.
- Type your question and send it.
You can also send a file without typing anything; One uses the file name for context.
How One reads your files
A file you upload as text becomes part of your message, so One reads all of it before answering. Ask about any part of the file. Answers don't carry a citation back to the file, so if you need to know where something came from, ask One to quote the passage.
Images
Whether One can understand an image depends on the model you're using. Some models can see images; others can only read text. If a model can't read your image, you'll see an error or an answer that ignores the image. Switch to another model in the model selector and try again.
Run code on your files
One can run code to analyze data, make charts, or convert files.
- In the message box, open Tools and turn on Run Code.
- To give the code a file to work on, open the attach menu and choose Upload to Code Environment. This option appears only while Run Code is on.
- Ask for what you need, for example "chart monthly sales from this spreadsheet."
Downloading files
Files that One creates for you, such as a chart or a converted file, appear in the chat with a download link. Select it to save the file to your device.
Limits
You can attach up to 10 files to one message. If a file is too large, One tells you and doesn't upload it. Text taken from a file is limited to about 100,000 tokens (roughly 75,000 words); longer documents are shortened to fit, so split very long documents into parts.
Your files are private
Files you upload are stored by Denizen Blu and are only available to you. They aren't shared with other users unless you share a conversation that includes them. A shared link includes a copy of the files attached to that conversation, so anyone who opens the link can see them.
