Jury & Judge
Get one answer built from three models that answer independently, review each other, and hand their findings to a separate Judge.
The Jury & Judge is One's way of getting a more careful answer to a hard question. Instead of one model answering, three models (the jurors) each answer on their own, then review each other's answers. A separate model, the Judge, reads everything and writes the final answer.
Use it when a question is important enough to be worth waiting for, such as a decision, a tricky analysis, or a question where you'd like more than one view. For quick questions, a single model is faster.
A Jury & Judge run takes noticeably longer than a normal answer, and it can still make mistakes. Agreement between models is not proof that something is true.
Start a Jury & Judge chat
- Select Jury & Judge (the scales icon). It's on the welcome screen of a new chat, where it reads "3 jurors → Deliberation → Judge," and in the header.
- One switches the chat to the jury. The button shows that Jury & Judge is selected.
- Type your question and send it.
Selecting the Jury & Judge starts a new chat; your current chat is left as it was.
When you start another new chat afterwards, One goes back to the normal Auto model, so the jury applies only to chats where you chose it.
You can also pick One — Jury from My Agents in the model selector.
What you see during a run
A jury run appears in the chat as a series of labeled steps:
- Jury · initial answers. Three cards, Juror 1, Juror 2, and Juror 3, each marked Initial answer. Each juror is a different model answering your question independently.
- Jury · cross-review. The same three jurors, now marked Cross-review, each review the others' answers.
- Judge. A divider with the scales icon marks where the Judge takes over. The Judge's text below it is your final answer.
You can open any juror card to read what that model said.
If a juror's model didn't return anything, its card says No answer returned. The Judge still answers, but it should tell you the deliberation was incomplete.
How the jurors are chosen
For each question, One picks three different models from a set of fast models, choosing ones that suit the question. The models can change from one question to the next.
The jurors work only from your question, the conversation so far, and any evidence provided to them. They don't search the web themselves. The Judge can use web search and your documents to check claims before giving its verdict, unless you've asked One not to search.
Tips
- Ask one clear question per message. The jury works best on a focused question.
- Give the context the jurors need in your message, since they don't browse on their own.
- Read the Judge's answer for disagreements or gaps it reports. A careful Judge answer tells you what it couldn't confirm.
If the Jury & Judge isn't available
If the jury can't be used on your account, selecting Jury & Judge opens a panel that explains why, instead of switching. You can keep chatting with any single model.
If a run fails with "Three authorized models are required for the jury.", One couldn't find enough models for the jury. Try again in a few minutes. If it keeps happening, contact support.
In the mobile app
The One mobile app has the Jury & Judge too. Select the Jury & Judge chip on the new-chat screen.
