Files, saving and printing
Open files in One from the Dock, Finder or File Explorer, and export, download, save as PDF and print conversations.
Open files in One
You can attach files to a chat without opening One first:
- Mac: drag files onto One's icon in the Dock.
- Mac, Windows or Linux: in Finder, File Explorer or your file manager, right-click the files and choose Open With > One.
One asks first, for example Attach "report.pdf" to a chat in One?, because attaching uploads the files to One. Click Attach, then choose how One should use them, as when you attach a file on the web. If no chat is open, One starts a new one.
Open With offers One for PDFs, text, Markdown, CSV, JSON, Word, Excel and PowerPoint files, and PNG, JPEG, GIF and WebP images. Installing One doesn't make it the default app for any of them. You can attach up to 10 files at a time, each up to 100 MB, and not folders. One's usual file limits also apply.
Inside the app, you can also drag files onto the message box, as on the web.
Save, export and print
- Export. In a conversation, Export/Share > Export works as on the web (see Export and import). The app asks where to save the file, starting in your Downloads folder. On a Mac, the Downloads stack in the Dock bounces when it's done.
- Downloads. Files you download from a chat, such as files One made for you, are saved the same way.
- Save as PDF. File > Save as PDF… saves the conversation on screen as a PDF, named after the conversation. It has the whole conversation, across as many pages as it needs, dark text on white, without the sidebar or buttons.
- Print. File > Print… (⌘P or Ctrl+P) opens your computer's print dialog with the same pages.
