Notifications

How One for desktop tells you about replies that finish while you are in another app, and how to turn that off.

If One finishes a reply while you're in another app, the app lets you know:

  • A notification shows the conversation's title and One has replied. It never shows the reply itself, because notifications can appear on your lock screen. Click it to open that conversation.
  • Mac: One's Dock icon shows how many replies you haven't seen yet.
  • Windows: One's taskbar button gets a red dot. While One is writing a reply, the button shows that it's busy.
  • Linux: where your dock shows counts, as Ubuntu's and KDE's do, One's icon shows how many replies you haven't seen yet.

The count clears when you go back to One.

To stop the notifications, untick Show Notifications in the tray icon's menu, or the notifications setting in Desktop Settings. The Dock count, taskbar dot or dock count on Linux still appears.

The first time, your computer may ask whether One can show notifications; allow it. If notifications don't appear, see No notifications.
